Job Summary
The Purchasing Officer is responsible for managing the procurement of goods and services for the organization. This role includes identifying suppliers, negotiating contracts, processing purchase orders, and ensuring that the company’s needs are met in terms of cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
Job Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on cost, quality, and delivery capabilities.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers.
- Issue purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
- Maintain and update supplier records and procurement databases.
- Track inventory levels and reorder supplies as necessary to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Prepare and review procurement reports, monitor spending, and identify areas for cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., finance, warehouse, and production) to ensure seamless procurement and delivery processes.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements related to procurement.
- Resolve issues related to damaged goods, delayed shipments, or incorrect orders with vendors.
- Assist in the development and implementation of purchasing strategies and plans.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Purchasing Officer or in a similar role within a procurement or supply chain environment.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency with procurement software and systems.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
